The first six months meeting of SAFEFISHDISH was hosted by NTNU in Trondheim, Norway, from 7 to 9 December 2015. Twelve researchers from eight research institutes, university and industry attended this meeting.
During this meeting, the partners had the exiting opportunity to visit a salmon farm, as well as NTNU laboratories and superchilling facilities. The last two days were dedicated to presentation and discussion of results.
A chitosan solution that prevents the development of undesirable spoiling bacteria in fish was selected by PRIMEX. Ifremer and ONIRIS have developed a rapid miniaturised method for screening potential lactic acid bacteria as protective culture. A review on the advantages of using superchilling and modified atmosphere for fish preservation was presented by NOFIMA and NTNU. A large part of the meeting was dedicated to harmonisation of microbial and biochemical methods (MATIS). The first draft of the website was elaborated (CITPPM) and a plan for dissemination of results set-up (PFI Nouvelles Vagues).
